2007-2008 FCWPTL RULES
- Matches will be played on Wednesdays at 9:30 & 10:30 am. Positions 1 & 2 are played at 9:30. Positions 3 & 4 will be played at 10:30. If the match is held up more than 15 minutes by lateness, the match is defaulted. Matches will be scheduled on 10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/7, 11/14, 11/28 &12/12. 2nd session- 1/9, 1/16, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, 2/27 and 3/5.
- All club members are eligible to participate in interclub play except non-residents.
- Each team should bring a written line-up to the matches by 9:30.
- A member of two clubs may represent only one club for the season. If there is a change of clubs during the season, the player may be fielded for the new club. No team may use a player who is currently on the candidate list but is not yet a full member.
- Teams will field their strongest line-up in order. No stacking. Clubs that field multiple teams must “freeze” 6 players on their teams. Those “frozen players cannot play down on the lower team, but could play up on a higher team. For example: If a club fields a team in divisions 1, 2 & 3, they must freeze 6 players on their division 1 & 2 teams. Frozen division 1 players cannot play on the division 2 team, but frozen division 2 players can play up on the division 1 team. Frozen division 2 players cannot play on the division 3 team. A list of frozen players should be turned into the league directors before the 1st match of the season.
- If a club is short of a full 8-member team and must default a team, it must shift all other teams upward from position 4. For example, if position 2 defaults, 3 will play in slot 2, etc.
- Matches may be cancelled because of rain or snow by mutual agreement of the captains. If temperatures are below 8 degrees, the match may be cancelled by either captain or played, if agreed upon. When an entire match has been cancelled because of bad weather, make-ups will be played the following Monday. The make-up may be scheduled with an entirely new draw.
- When a match has been started and has to be called because of bad weather, the four players must reschedule the match. The score and serving positions should be recorded, as the rescheduled match will begin where it left off. The arrangement must be made within 24 hours to be played as follows: If the match is during the first half of the season, it must be played by December 21. If the match was scheduled during the second half, it must be played by January 24. If the secretary does not receive a score by these deadlines, then the point shall be deemed null and void.
- Rule #9 will also apply when a single team cannot start, although if a ball has not been hit in the match, the teams need not remain the same as long as the new line-up does not contain a player who has played the same match in another position.
- Teams will play a 12-point tiebreak when they reach 6 games all. Matches will be best of 2 of 3 sets.
- Matches will be played according to APTA rules. Carries and double hits are illegal.
- In the warm-up, players should ask their opponents if they themselves are foot-faulting.
- A “let” serve is to be played.
- If a player is injured during a match and cannot continue, the match must be forfeited.
- “Fault” or “Out”: If there is a disagreement between the receiving partners as to whether the service is good or out, a let should be played, regardless of whether the service was returned in or out of play. Also, if during play, a player makes an “out” call on a ball, which the player could otherwise return, play should stop. If the partner disagrees with her partner and believes the ball was in, a “let” should be played.
- Each club can earn up to 4 points for the team match. At the completion of each session, the top 2 teams will automatically move up to the higher division. The bottom 2 teams will drop to the lower division. The division winning team in March will win the league. In case of a tie, the plaque will be shared.
- All team captains are to enter their scores on the fcptl website. www.fcptl.com
- A luncheon will be held at the end of the season on March 5. The captain’s meeting will precede the luncheon. Team captains are responsible for taking their club’s reservations and reporting the number of those attending to the chairperson no later than a week before the luncheon date. There will be a per person fee for the luncheon. Site TBD
- If inclement weather prevents play on the final Wednesday, all matches will be played the following Monday. If both captains agree, the make-up match can be played on the following Wednesday, instead of Monday. However, if one captain does not agree, then the match must be played on Monday.
- The home team provides Viking or Wilson paddle balls and refreshments
- If there is a school delay the matches will be played the following Monday.
- There is a $50 per club fee for the league
- Questions, concerns or problems should be addressed to the league directors by team captains only.
